Burial
Different legal obligations must be fulfilled depending on the circumstances of the death.
Additionally, the ceremony must also be prepared by selecting various options, such as the type of grave (temporary or perpetual), the coffin, the religious service, flowers and other details. Count on us to organise and coordinate all funeral stages. We listen to your wishes and endeavour to fulfil them 100%.
Cremation
In summary, cremation is a process to reduce the cadaver or bones to ashes in cremators built exclusively for the purpose. Currently, cremation funerals are becoming more widely used for various reasons: lower environmental risks compared to burial, lack of space at cemeteries, or family members who wish to keep the ashes.
At Santos & Bárbara, we are qualified to provide a complete cremation funeral service, from the wake to burial services, whether religious or not, and the handing over of the ashes in a small urn or pot selected from our extensive product catalogue.

Transfer of Remains
Transfer means transporting the mortal remains (cadaver / bones / ashes) to be placed in a grave or crypt, cremated or placed in an ossuary.
All transfers must include the necessary documentation obtained through a funeral home.
This is a sensitive process for family members and friends of the deceased person and thus should be conducted by professionals whose approach ensures respect and discretion. In addition to contacting the administration of the respective cemeteries, municipal and other services, Santos & Bárbara will manage the process and the transport, whether national or international, make memorial plaques and organise a ceremony or celebration in memory of the deceased.
Exhumation
At the end of the legal period for a temporary burial (of never less than three years), the bones may be removed, which is called exhumation. There are several reason for exhuming mortal remains: to transfer the bones within the cemetery or to another cemetery, for cremation and to hand over the ashes.
Santos & Bárbara has specialised professionals who will conduct the process at the official authorities and the technical services to perform the necessary procedures. Tell us your needs and be assured that we will take all measures to fulfil your requests whilst complying the strictest code of ethics.
